I’ve been the proud owner of Dog’s Day Inn since February of 2000. Since I was a young girl I knew that I wanted to work with animals. I got my first American Bulldog, Bailey, in 1996. I began traveling the country showing my Bulldogs in the conformation ring, earning championship points, and working titles on Bailey and many of her progeny. When I stumbled upon the “For Sale” listing for Dog’s Day Inn, it was a small, 17 kennel facility offering very limited services. I saw the potential, and began transforming that dream into reality. Dog’s Day Inn is now one of the most highly rated boarding and grooming facilities in Richmond. I live on 4.5 acres with my American Bulldog: Oz, SchH I, PSA PDC, NADF 1, my Argentine Dogo, Luz, and my American Bulldog puppy, Benzley. We are active members of Black Sheep K-9, Cobra Kai K-9, North American Dogsport Federation, Protection Sports of America, and the American Working Dog Federation. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Federation American Bulldog. “It’s all about the dogs!!!”
My name is Kristen and I’m a very familiar face around Dog’s Day Inn. I have two pit bulls named Angel and Frank. I also have a French Bulldog named Mimi. You will find her searching Dog’s Day Inn for spare kibbles. I’m Paige’s daughter so I’ve been working with the pups since I was old enough to spray a hose. I started caring for my own dogs as a chore when I was a child. Now, I care for my own and many more! Dog’s Day Inn is a family business so each dog that comes through our front door is a new family member. I love my job because there’s nothing better or easier than sharing my love with animals.

Ever since I can remember, I've had a strong passion for dogs. Once I finished school, I found that working with the animals that I love most, was exactly what I wanted to do! I have a five year old pit bull, Ruger, who I absolutely adore. He is such an amazing dog, and has brought so much happiness into my life. It just makes sense for me to share that happiness and love with other fur babies. "They say dogs don't make our whole lives, but they make our lives whole."
Hello! My name is Dorie. I started working with animals when I was 12 years old. I’ve worked in kennels and have 7 years+ experience working as a veterinary assistant in veterinary hospitals. I plan on going back to school to obtain my vet tech license in the next year and start working as a licensed veterinary technician specializing in emergency care. In my spare time I enjoy going to the river with my dog, reading, hiking, and listening to good music. I have a 10 year old Pit Bull named “Fiona” and a 8 year old Maine Coon name “Popcorn”.
My name is Heather and I’ve been with Dog’s Day Inn since the summer of 2013. I come from a long line of dog lovers, trainers, breeders, and groomers. My mom jokes that I was born in a whelping box. I adore dogs and cats. I own and American Eskimo named Einstein, a Toy Poodle named Cinnamon, and two cats: Scarlett and Six. My life and love revolves around all of my four legged friends at home and here at Dog’s Day Inn. I look forward to meeting and spending time with all of our existing and new customers, especially their furry friends.
My name is Ashley Shaffer. I've been a professional pet groomer for about 15 years. I graduated Canine Clippers School of Pet Grooming in Dumfries, VA in 2005. I am certified through the National Dog Groomer's Association of America and specialize in Terrier and Non-Sporting groups. I love my job and take great pride in what I do, and will see to it that every dog and cat will go home looking and smelling great.

My name is Arielle. I’ve been grooming for 7 years. I’m a big animal lover! I have two toy poodles, Tatts and Ruca, and they are my fur babies. They are lucky because they get to come to daycare everyday while Im at work, and they love it. It has always been my dream to be a groomer. I remember seeing pictures of my Grandma grooming, and the finished work, and I wanted to do that! I love my job here at Dog’s Day Inn because I get to know all the dogs and their pet parents. I can create a bind with them and that makes the grooming process easier on them. I think of grooming as an art, and I can actually say that I love what I do.
My name's Erin and I just started working at Dog's Day Inn. So far it's been a blast! I am a life long dog lover and my family has a massive Rhodesian Ridgeback at home. I am excited to meet your furry friends and can't wait for what the future has in store at Dog's Day Inn.
